What is the E31 Family KITAS?
The E31 Family KITAS is the modernized version of the former C317 Family/Spouse KITAS, restructured under Indonesia’s updated visa classification system to accommodate various family scenarios.
This visa category allows foreign spouses and children to legally reside in Indonesia and reunite with their family members who are either Indonesian citizens or foreign KITAS/KITAP holders.
E31 Family KITAS Categories:
- E31A – Spouse of an Indonesian Citizen (1 or 2 Years)
For foreign nationals married to an Indonesian citizen. The Indonesian spouse acts as the sponsor. - E31B – Spouse of KITAS/KITAP Holder (1 Year)
For foreign nationals joining their spouse who holds a valid KITAS or KITAP. - E31C – Child of an Indonesian Citizen (1 or 2 Years)
For children born in a legal marriage where one parent is an Indonesian citizen, and the child is officially recognized by the Ministry of Home Affairs or an Indonesian Mission abroad. - E31D – Child of a Mixed Marriage (1 or 2 Years)
For children born to legally married foreign nationals and Indonesian citizens. - E31E – Child of Foreign KITAS/KITAP Holders (1 or 2 Years)
For unmarried children under 18 years old whose parents are both foreign nationals holding valid KITAS or KITAP.

📑 Required Documents for the E31 Family KITAS Application
To process your E31 Family KITAS smoothly, please prepare the following documents:
🛂 Passport
- Color scan of the main passport page and the cover page
- Passport must be valid for at least 9 months
- Must have at least 2 blank pages
- For travel documents other than a national passport, a re-entry permit from your country of issuance is required
- Ensure the passport scan is:
- Sharp and in focus
- Not ghosted, cropped, folded, or blurry
- In landscape orientation
🖼️ Photograph
- Recent passport-size photo
- Acceptable format: Half-body shot, not just head and shoulders
- Avoid the following:
- Blurry or pixelated images
- Casual or expressive facial expressions
- Non-face photos or inappropriate backgrounds
🏦 Bank Statement
- Personal bank statement showing a minimum final balance of USD 2,000 (or equivalent)
- Must cover the last 3 months
- Should include:
- Your full name
- Statement period
- Balance details
📄 Guarantor Document
Guarantee letter or statement of commitment from the sponsor
📍 Address in Indonesia
- Provide a residential address in Indonesia
- Can be a villa, hotel, or long-term accommodation
- Ensure it is accurate and up to date for reporting purposes
Changing Your Address (While KITAS Is Active)
If you change your residential address in Indonesia while your KITAS is still valid, it is essential to update your information with immigration to remain compliant.
Steps to Follow:
- Report the New Address
Notify Visvasa Global Services as soon as you move to a new location. - Obtain a Domicile Letter (Surat Keterangan Domisili)
Visit the local Banjar (village office) at your new address to request a domicile letter. This document confirms your new place of residence.
Address Update for KITAS Renewal
If your address has changed since your original KITAS was issued, the same process applies during renewal:
- Inform Visvasa Global Services of the new address
- Provide an updated Domicile Letter
- We will submit the necessary updates to immigration during your KITAS renewal

Process of Making E31 Family KITAS
Submit your E-KITAS
Once we received all the documents, we will promptly submit your E-KITAS application. The process for the E-KITAS will take around 14 Business Days. However, please note that processing times may be longer if there are errors or system maintenance by immigration.
Enter within 90 days
Upon receiving your E-KITAS, you have 90 days to enter Indonesia from the date it was issued. If you do not plan to enter Indonesia within this period, you will need to re-apply for an E-KITAS.
Report arrival to us
Upon your arrival in Indonesia, please contact us to report your KITAS and arrival. You must do this within 30 days of your arrival and provide your physical passport. You can either drop it off at our office (with pick-up available upon request at least 2 days in advance).
KITAS ready
Once we have received your passport, we will handle the submission of your passport and KITAS documents to Immigration. We will prepare all necessary documents. You will receive a schedule for your photo appointment within 7 business days (though this may take longer if there are system issues at the immigration office). We will notify you of the schedule via Whatsapp. After completing the biometrics registration, your passport and KITAS e-card will be ready within 5 business days.
